Project Type: Corporate Office-Adaptive ReUse- Interior Design
Location: Morristown, New Jersey
Background:
The locally based client needed a new headquarters. The existing building was a neglected townhouse with origins in the 18th century and located in a very prominent part of town on a major road. Time, multiple tenants and multiple uses had worn hard on what was once a very handsome building. The client came with the desire to respect and restore as much as possible of the townhouse but still provide modern, air conditioned, and code compliant facilities for new offices.
The Solution:
The building was stripped of all its in-the-moment modifications to restore the quality and the character of rooms, materials and details. New custom casework and privacy walls were designed to accommodate the office functions. New furniture, artwork, paint and rugs were selected to furnish the spaces.
Role: Design development, detailing, construction documents, code research, historic preservation commission application and construction management in the office of Kennedy-Grant.
