Project Type: New single-family residential development.
Location: Basking Ridge, New Jersey
Client: Local developer
Background:
The developer purchased a tract large enough for 4 new homes. The goal was to design new homes that appeared to have been there for centuries.
The Solution:
The firm of Kennedy-Grant was retained to design all the homes in a traditional vocabulary and with careful collaboration with the developer to market the homes. They would all be interpretations of regional historic, clapboard and stone houses with all the modern amenities, and expected high level of finishes at an affordable price. The homes were designed to convey a feeling of growth by accretion over time. The massing of each portion of the home is articulated as a separate form to reduce the apparent size and retain a historic character.
Role:
Design development, construction documents, project management and construction administration while at the firm of Kennedy-Grant.
